To a church going, god-fearing man, its all gods plan.
To satanist, its mostly for satan possibily A.K.A. santa
really in the end the point of life the meaning of life is really just life and the experances. its to enjoy it now, to help when you can, to hurt when pained, and to save. and if you can, not be to be a bitch or asshole.
I don't care to much for the term Bright, but I certainly am one.
No one has ever become an atheist because of its facility for finding purpose and meaning in one's life. No doubt many atheists go through existential crisises, especially if/when transitioning from a theistic world view.
The reality is that when a Bright looks for great cosmic meaning, they will find that the universe is fundamentally absurd. There is no great cosmic universal meaning, and on a long enough time line, everything is meaningless, since the Sun will eventually burn out, explode, engulf and the Earth, and the universe will experience heat death.
That doesn't mean we can't find fulfillment. It requires alot of reflection and introspection.
This sounds a bit Douglass Adamsy who is a big proponent of the Brights. Personally, I prefer the guy who Adams ripped off as far as style: The Late Great Kurt Vonnegut!
Adams sounds clever until you realise that his style is borrowed directly form Vonnegut. But Adams pales in comparison. Adams, has picked up on Vonnegut's quirkly techniques, but lacks the deeper message to his work that Vonnegut has. I don't mean this as a cut, but I'm not surpised he is an atheist!

When you say you are not surprised "he" is an atheist, who do you mean? Kurt Vonnegut and Douglas Adams were both atheists. I'm not surprised either is an atheist, but I don't know what you mean by it.
And the idea of the world being fundamentally absurd and meaningless did not begin with Vonnegut or Adams. If has likely existed for thousands of years, but was first throughly deconstructed and formalized at the same time almost every important questions was asked, during the Classic Ancient Greek period. One look at the writings of Epicuris and Lucretius will show you these ideas have existed long before we did. If my post sounded anything like Adams, it's because the ideas are universally human.
The term "secular humanism" was coined in the 20th century to make a clear distinction from "religious humanism". A related concept is scientific humanism, which biologist Edward O. Wilson claimed to be "the only worldview compatible with science's growing knowledge of the real world and the laws of nature".[1]">secular humanist, so I guess that is close to being an atheist. I wonder if he was an atheist on his death bed? It is not unusual to turn religious in old age or on death's door.
I guess I got first. but
I guess I got first. but that is not important right now. (heehee)
I think the meaning of life is complcatied. it probaly has to do with viewpoints.
To a hedonist, its all for beauity.

Hope that begins to answer your question.

Don't mean to cut? What?
