I'm not sure I understood where Peter was coming from in the lecture. I came in quite late and missed a lot of the intro, so was never clued up on what it was we were supposed to be getting. The Wu Chi state seems a desirable state, but it there a goal? is it happiness we are supposed to achieve by reaching this state?
THE PURPOSE AND BENEFITS OF STUDYING THE WU CHI
THE WU CHI
Hello Meg,
Thank you for your sincere enquiry. Before I answer it, may I clarify a few points. From reading of some reactive views presented at the Philosophy Meetup Blog, I would like to remind those members that some of them seem to have forgotten the title of the presentation being 'The Death and Rebirth of the Thinker in the Art of Self Humor'.
Secondly, members were also advised to look up the two books of the presenter that are available in the London public libraries and in Amazon.co.uk online. And for those members who did, they were tuned in to where the presenter was coming from and so, the enquiry would come from a different wavelength, you know what I mean?
Although I essentially come from the Taoist philosophical point of view, I have always been interested in the Western philosophers too and made some wonderful bridging with the ideas and values. In School, I became secretary of the Students Discovery Movement where we had meetings with people from different faiths and philosophies. I read Plato, Socrates, Aristotle and understood the essence of their writings. Some had more impact on me than others, take for example, Immanuel Kant, as a teenager, I love reading his books and his ideas about Cognitive Education, about Direct Perception as the way of knowing and understanding the object of enquiry. That is exactly what we are learning and teaching in the Taoist way. A chinese artist sits, eats, sleeps and exercises under a tree just to BE with the tree in a cognitive way for 3 months and then, picks up his paint brush to paint the tree. I was also fortunate to meet and study with the modern day philosopher Jiddu Krishnarmurti, as welll as Chinese philosophers Doctor Pang Ming, founder of the First Medicineless Hospital in China, Professor and Scholar Jou Tsung Hwa of the Tai Chi Centre and Dr T K Shih founder of the Chi Healing Centre and I studied for many years with Autistic Healers Barry Neil Kaufman of the Option Institute in USA. I have been able to reach wonderful points of synthesis in my studies with these and many other teachers personally and stayed true to the Taoist Philosophy at the same time.
Now, let us go into the Wu Chi topic.
You asked what is the purpose of the Wu Chi. I am speaking from the privilege position of witnessing more than 80,000 people benefitting from the study, practice and working with the Wu Chi principle. Even scientists and inventors who have dived into the Wu Chi have discovered the EUREKA factor, the startling discoveries of new insights into old problems and challenges, bringing about new creative and improved changes to their work. On a personal level, people have been able to feel more rejuvenated and ‘look 10 years younger’ thanks to the access to the Chi energy as they also melt into the Wu Chi. The fact is that the mind does not seem to realize how wonderful it is to be shut down, like you would shut down a computer and not over heat it with excessive use, such as living it on for weeks without turning it off? You want the brain to have fully rested so it can function efficiently. Repairs to the computer can be made when the computer is shut down. So, when the mind can be gently shut down, there is rest and peace of mind, something rare nowadays with more increases in a stressful society today. On a spiritual level of development, many students studying the Wu Chi principle have developed naturally their psychic abilities to help and heal themselves and people. The benefits can fill a whole book in itself based on the thousands of testimonies I have received personally over the past 25 years.
The term Wu Chi in chinese is about the state of NOTHINGNESS, the emptiness factor in life, which also mirrors in the emotional sense. Like when someone feels lonely, this emotional feeling of emptiness is not embraced what it is but rather usually, we ELECTROPLATE ourselves with entertainment and activities. I also shared that ELECTROPLATING is about being deposited with temporary layers of golden nice and good feelings but underneath we are still the worthless 'brass' as in a golden football cup? Now, what happens when we DO NOT avoid the emotional void? Instead of making it an enemy, what if we make friends with it? Then, you will naturally improve your loving, sexual and work relationships.
There is also mental electroplating. The Thinker has become the Big Boss and does not want to relinquish control and keeps on needing to acquire more and more knowledge and power. The greatest addiction happening in developed countries is not drugs, it is addiction to excessive Thinking and thereby a sense of uncertainty, worrying and break-downs are some of the consequential results. What the Thinker with its Thinking and Thought processes do not understand is that it is a mechanical process. As the saying goes, the Mind is a Terrible Master but a useful vehicle. Who rides the vehicles?
This brings us to the Light Being I brought up in the group that I was sharing this energy being that comes when the mind is emptied and this chi energy that flows from the belly centre, the hara centre, the Tan Tien or sea of unknown creative energy.
Another way to look at all this is from a dimensional point of view.
The First Dimension is about the One single reactive point of view and stuck there, and being unreceptive to new ideas. The Second Dimension is about the Dualistic Nature of the mind that could bring untold misery or opportunity for finding the third creative point of view, which brings us to the Third Dimension. In the third dimension, the Wu Chi or cessation of the mental activity brings a new energy of hope, inspiration and peace. The Fourth dimension is where the Light Being, the true self, in chinese we call it 'Hun'.
These topics are covered extensively in my two books.
So, is happiness a dualistic or second dimensional term or is happiness a term to describe third and fourth dimensional states of consciousness?
I am
to investigate this further with you. In the School that I have started here in Devon we emphasize on a balanced emotional, physical, mental and spiritual way to ground the principles of the Wu Chi. We have a 5 acre school with peaceful ponds, gardens, organic vegetables, fruit trees, practice hall, Guest House accommodations, heated swimming pool and close proximity to the rivers and seas. You are welcome to join one of our courses at the ripe time.
Please do check it out at www.rainbow-taichi.org.uk
I also encourage you and anyone to read my two books if you are seriously interested. Best regards, Peter
Useful
Now that certainly does sound useful! How could I aquire some of this mental electroplating?
Mental therpay
Mental electroshock therapy might be more your thing Prince!
