Confusing normative and descriptive is the root of many errors.

I'm Tom. I have a degree in philosophy. I prefer my cheese continental and creamy and my philosophy logical, pragmatic and reasonable. I tire quickly of linguistic silly buggers, especially of the current trend to define everything as a 'religion' (what, then, goes on in churches and mosques if everything from playing chess to mowing the lawn is some sub-class of religion?) and every opinion as a 'faith'. That kind of stuff is not only irritating but when accompanied by upbraiding remarks about lack of scholarly engagement with religious belief is bloody hypocritical.

I am an author on Citizendium - which is Wikipedia for grown-ups. And I code in Python, Ruby, PHP, Java and XSLT, and dabble in JavaScript. Philosophically, I tend to devour a whole oeuvre of writings from a particular person before moving on. Nietzsche was first (teenage kicks!), but currently I'm on Plato.
